Trevor Watts is a globally recognized jazz and world music pioneer. In the 1960s, the English saxophonist permanently expanded the parameters of jazz, co-founding Spontaneous Music Ensemble and leading the equally groundbreaking Amalgam. In the early 1980s, Watts formed the first of several ensembles under the Moire Music banner, blending rhythms from Africa and Asia with jazz-steeped virtuosity, and performing on six continents. Now in its third decade, Watts’ duo with percussionist Jamie Harris distills 60 years of Watts’ immersion in diverse music traditions with ear-grabbing themes, infectious grooves, and an uplifting vibe. A rare opportunity not to be missed.

Performance artists, musicians, poets, actors — meet Frederick’s newest performance workshop and open stage: SEE WHAT STICKS at the FAC Art Center. The last Friday of each month. Artists are welcome to workshop emerging projects in our space and see what sticks. Stay after the performances for a brief discussion and debrief as participating artists continue to fine-tune their work. Formed in 2000 by twins Adriano and Caterina Sangineto, the Ensemble Sangineto has a deep connection to ancient music and a passion for Irish, Breton, and French traditions. With the addition of guitarist and bouzouki player Jacopo Ventura, the band skillfully blends ancient harmonies with modern rhythms, creating fresh arrangements of traditional tunes and original compositions. Their enchanting sound, combining harp, bowed psaltery, and polyphonic vocals, evokes dreamlike and joyful atmospheres.
