Meet the Artist: Homer Yost @ Gaslight Gallery

September Events

The Solitary Figure by Homer Yost: A beloved sage in the vibrant Frederick, MD art community, Homer Yost has been drawing and sculpting for more than four decades. His work is a love affair with the human form, the classical subject of artists for centuries. Narratives about his personal world and the larger world are conveyed in the subtle gestures or posture of his subject. He describes his work as “figurative humanism,” and captures more than a representational likeness. He captures the essence of their spirit in drawings and sculpture.

“Multifarious” @ Eastside Artists’ Gallery

She has been taking pictures most of her adult life and feels complete with a camera in her hand. Photography has been her creative outlet for many years. In the past few years, she has used some of her photographs as the inspiration for her acrylic paintings and it has been interesting for her to discover that not everything in a photograph needs to be in a painting. Painting her photographs gives […]

The clutter of discarded objects. Was the house defined by the people who lived in it, or can it be defined by the structure that remains? How many years did it take to become in such disrepair; consumed by the elements? No Forwarding Address offers the viewer a range of photographed subjects, from individual houses to an entire town, to explore and imagine their stories. The overlapping frames suggest the […]
