Gallery 322 joins the celebration, as Frederick County, Maryland celebrates its 275th anniversary. Our June group show, 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙨 features artists Michael Douglas Jones, Jan Kaufman, Linda Kirvan, Ann Schaefer, Anne Gibson Snyder, Russell Schofield, Tom Ritchie, and Homer Yost, along with associate artists Roberta Staat, Leo Ramos, Lissa Abrams, Paul Wilson, and Karen Winston-Levin. We’re open Friday 4-7PM, on First Saturday Noon-8PM & Sunday from Noon-5PM, and we are happy to meet visitors during the week by appointment.

Send for the Doctor: The Life and Times of Dr. Edward Stonestreet @ National Museum of Civil War Medicine

Join us at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in the Delaplaine Randall Conference Room on June 3 at 2:00PM as historian Clarence Hickey discusses the life and career of Dr. Edward E. Stonestreet, a Civil War surgeon with the U.S. Army. A Rockville physician, Dr. Stonestreet practiced medicine for 51 years (1852-1903) and served as a surgeon in the Army from 1862-1863. Clarence Hickey will share the doctor’s stories, including his Civil War service records that brought him into service through his association with Surgeon General John Hammond. This event is included with admission and free for Museum members.

Frederick Artists Night is an event that celebrates local (Frederick County) creativity with an art exhibit and reception and live music on the First Saturday of each month. The event is sponsored by the Cowork Frederick Foundation. All proceeds from art sales to go the artist. Artist: Noelani Jones Open to the public one night only! Caroline Mayer Exhibits “Loving Nature” @ NOMA Gallery

NOMA Gallery will be exhibiting oil paintings by Caroline Mayer for the month of June. Exhibition dates are June 2–25, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 3, from 5–8pm. There will be an artist’s talk on Thursday, June 15 at 7pm. Mayer has long been known for her renditions of water, usually highlighting scenes from Greece, where she has travelled extensively. Sumner Crenshaw is an American surrealist and figurative painter. Her art is a minimalist, narrative style imbued with lines and movement. Crenshaw’s paintings pay particular attention to themes of overcoming anxiety and finding strength. In her more surreal pieces, exaggerated figures pull from mythology and folklore to explore ideas of anxiety and struggle. In her lively “Curly Girl” paintings, confident figures strut across the canvas in a show of empowerment and feminism.
