The Awakening with ESP @ New Spire Stages

April Events

Set in New Orleans at the end of the 19th century, The Awakening is a compelling story of Edna, a woman ahead of her time, who undergoes a social, sexual, and spiritual awakening. This American literary classic was banned when released and rediscovered in the 1950s. Adapted from the novel by Kate Chopin by Rebecca Chase with music by Myra Platt. The show is set to a score of blues, ragtime, soul, and opera and is rich with the lush decadence of the French Quarter. Tickets are always Pay-What-You-Can.
