The FAC Art Center is excited to be hosting a miniature performance from the National String Symphonia as part of their series “String in the Wild” on October 1st, 2022 at 5:00 PM. This is a free event! More information about the National String Symphonia can be found here.

Opening Reception to the Artist Steve Dobbin. “Between Ideas and Reality” is illustrative of the process of art making, failed effort, reconsidered direction and then taking shelter in the known.

Participating resident artists of The Griffin Art Center are opening their studios to the public on Saturday, October 1, from 5 – 7. Housed in the same building as NOMA Gallery & just across the street from TAG (The Artist Gallery). Curious? Stop by!

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage by learning a few dance moves! Come dance with us to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Local instructor, Mónica, will demonstrate the basic rhythms and moves for several traditional Latin dance styles including: Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Colombian dance styles including Champeta, Puya, Cumbia, and Salsa Choke. 5:00pm Merengue (social dance) 5:30pm Salsa (social dance) 6:00pm Mix of styles including Champeta, Puya, Salsa Choke, and if there’s time Cumbia (solo moves to impress people at your next party!) 6:30pm Bachata (social dance)

The Comedy Pigs are the region’s longest-running improv troupe, and they’re ready for a great time! Join them for their new Sketch Show!

There are many ways of presenting thought-provoking ideas and themes in visual art. This exhibition will reflect the interpretation of this commonly used metaphorical expression in the art of 25 independently juried artists. It is on view from October 5 through October 30 and is free and open to the public.  The opening reception is Saturday, October 8 from 5 to 7 PM. We will have a tables outside will a few of a the camp cocktail flavors. We will talking about how camp cocktails work, and will be giving some fun holiday recipes.
