2nd Thai New Year Water Festival Come to Carroll Creek for the second Thai New Year Water Festival any time from 11am-8pm. Even though the festival did not take place in 2020, we now hope to make this an annual tradition moving forward! Join us for traditional Thai food and drinks, boxing, dancing, music, fashion, and of course water. The event is free to attend, but be ready to have some water thrown at you! See you there! DISTRICT Arts presents “Moments,” an exhibition of watercolor and fluid acrylic paintings by April M. Rimpo Rimpo’s favorite quote on art is by Ivan Lissner: “The secret of great art – to rob the moment of its impermanence.” Her exhibition titled “Moments” reflects that quotation. The Delaplaine Arts Center welcomes Toronto based artist, Amanda McCavour, for a stunning new exhibition, “Embroidered Spaces,” opening on Saturday, September 2. McCavour uses a sewing machine to create thread drawings and installations. Through an exploration of line and its 2–D and 3–D implications, stitch is used to explore various concepts such as connections to home and the fibers of the body. McCavour is interested in thread’s assumed vulnerability, its ability to unravel, and its strength when sewn together. “Sweet Dreams” & Artist Reception w/ Karen Peacock Meet Karen and chat about her exhibition on display from 5-8pm during the Artist Reception! Pajama Days contains 16 works made up of vintage sleepwear, drawings, paint, book pages, and more. “This project was started during the COVID 19 lockdown with what was on hand. The title reflects the fashion choices of that time,” says Peacock. These mixed-media works can hang separately or in site-specific modular groupings. Also on view is National Treasures: a subjective selection of 25 great Americans.

Farm-to-Table experience through art As the rhythm of the season begins to change, we look forward to the rewards of our labor, harvesting the bounty of our farms and garden plots. This moveable feast for our eyes is evident in the fresh produce filling the farmer’s markets, our tables and larders. Gallery 322 is celebrating the abundance of this season with an all-gallery exhibit showcasing the paintings, sculptures and assemblages of the versatile gallery artists, and highlighting that farm-to-table experience through their art. September Featured Artist: Doug Moulden Doug Moulden is showing his new, never before seen works! These are a series of paintings that explore the parts of the world that both fill him with wonder yet give him a feeling of disquiet. He uses an additive approach when constructing the paintings, using many different materials that are glued to panels.
