The Frederick Arts Council announces the commission of a new mural which will appear at 69 S. Market Street in Downtown Frederick. The mural, designed and painted by artist Rafael Blanco, will feature jazz great and Frederick native Lester Bowie. The artist will be available at the mural on Dec. 5 from 1-4 along with Frederick Jazz Festival performers (1-3pm) and the Eric Byrd trio (3-5pm). With a different artist in every room, you don’t want to miss this event. Local artist Courtney Prahl‘s “Finding Calm in the Chaos” exhibit (open to the public Dec 05 only) brings abstract and mixed media paintings to our main art wall. We’ll also have glass art by Eric Bloom, abstract art by Molly Supplee, books with short stories set in Frederick from the Frederick Writer’s Salon, holiday-themed framed pieces, and more.
