Annual Brinton’s Brandy Release @ Tenth Ward

February Events

Released only ONCE A YEAR, this spirit is distilled from McCutcheon’s Apple Products’ apple cider that Tenth Ward ferments and distills in-house, then infused with tart cherries and is slightly sweetened. They will have Brinton’s Brandy tastings, full pours, specialty Brinton’s Brandy cocktails and bottles available for purchase all day. FUN FACT: Brinton’s Brandy is distilled in collaboration with our wonderful neighbors at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine and is named for the infamous Civil War surgeon, John Brinton, who was known for bribing people with brandy.

The House on Jonathan Street, the latest documentary from 3 Roads Communications, is making its broadcast television debut on 200 Public Television stations across America. This one-hour documentary uses the accidental discovery of the significant history of a modest dwelling on a traditionally African American street in Hagerstown, MD to trace the roots of middle America’s racial, economic and social interactions. Mark Johnson can be found roaming the streets of downtown Frederick, MD with his Nikon on weekends searching for new Faces Of Frederick. While Mark loves the “Faces” project, the new “50 Shades of… Everything” exhibition is all about color – the full spectrum, from monochromatic grays to deep magentas, and everything in between. The exhibition runs from January 31 through February 25 and is free and open to the public. A reception will be held from 5-7 PM on February 10.

Seed to Roots Youth Arts Performance

February Events

The 2024 “Seed to Roots Youth Arts Performance” is produced as a 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 show at the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Monday, February 19 at 6PM. Performances consist of live and pre-recorded student performances, each inspired by or in celebration of Black History and Culture, past and present. The opportunity to perform is open all K-12 students in Frederick County. Students do not need to be enrolled in Frederick County Public Schools to participate. Any students interested in submitting a performance should apply here by December 8, 2023.
