We have decided to modify our annual Customer Appreciation Event in order to ensure it is as safe as possible. So, instead of holding the event from 6-8 pm, we are now expanding it to include the entire day, from 10 am-6 pm. Our Turkey Trot is going virtual for 2020! Kick off Thanksgiving weekend by joining us virtually for our annual Frederick Turkey Trot. This year, we are hosting a virtual 5K run and 1-mile fun run/walk to ensure the health and safety of all participants. You can join us from any neighborhood, in any city, and complete the race on your schedule. The Delaplaine’s on-site and online Gift Gallery also features artworks by local artists, Artist at Work gear, and art kits. Calling all local artist lovers, window shoppin’, cocktail sippin’, holiday shoppers! Tenth Ward is hosting a load of local makers and artisans for all your holiday shopping needs on Sunday, November 29 11am-6pm. We’ll be open an hour early for those early risers, so get in the holiday spirit, peruse the local goods, and give your money to all these amazing crafters and creators. Vendors and cocktail tables will be safely socially-distanced within our large 2300 square foot Whiskey Hall. Stay tuned for a list of our amazing makers.

Before COVID, we sold local art. During the holidays many would gather in our shop to check out the local artwork adorning our walls, hand-made oils, jewelry and more. Often times, you’d bump into the artist themselves as they sipped on a local brewed kombucha. We wanted to bring that back this year but in a safe and responsible manner. Frederick during the holidays will be on display during Celebrate Frederick’s Annual Holiday Art Exhibit at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center, 40 S. Carroll Street, from December 2 – 27.  This delightful display of original artwork created by local Frederick artists will be held in the Gardiner Gallery. From the exhibit submissions, a panel of judges will select the winning work of art to be featured in the 2021 “The Holidays” event series marketing campaign and merchandise.  A prize of $1,000 is awarded to the competition winner, and the $100 Barbara Maghan People’s Choice prize will be awarded to the […]

Author Tamara Thayer will host a talk and signing for her book “The Mystery of Barbara Fritchie, a True Patriot” at 10 a.m. on Dec. 3 at the Barbara Fritchie AirBnB at 154 West Patrick St. At 1 p.m. the book will be presented in sign language for the Deaf community. That will be followed by the author telling the famous flag-waving story in character as Barbara Fritchie at 3:30. The event is happening on what would have been Fritchie’s 254th birthday.
