Maryland Chamber Winds at Sky Stage

An evening of LIVE music at Frederick Arts Council’s open-air Sky Stage, featuring works by some of today’s leading artists and composers.

About this event

Join Maryland Chamber Winds for an evening of LIVE music at the exciting and innovative Sky Stage in the heart of downtown Frederick as part of their 2021 Maryland Wind Festival! Using the full forces of MCW, the concert will feature chamber winds works by some of today’s leading artists and composers.

We kick off the program with two brand new transcriptions for chamber winds – Antonín Dvořák’s Slavonic Dance No. 1 by our very own Artistic Director and Conductor, Tyler Austin and Caroline Shaw’s choral work and the swallow by our staff arranger, Danielle Fisher. The program continues with the US PREMIERE of Overflow by Grammy-nominated composer Anna Clyne which is masterfully inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poem, By The Sea. Concluding the concert will be Jeff Scott’s powerful Sacred Women with movements inspired by the Egyptian goddess of the moon, Isis; the Yoruban goddess of the sea, Iemanja; and the Dahomey creation goddess, Mawu. This program runs without an intermission. You won’t want to miss this thrilling evening chamber music!

A limited number of seats may be available at the door. All-ages, under 12 free, beer/wine with ID and other light concessions available for purchase.
