What better way to spend a Saturday than watching an artist create and learning about a good cause!
We love art for a cause, so we’re sponsoring an event for local nonprofit Power of Change Frederick! On Saturday, June 12 from 2-4 pm we’ll have artist Vicki Clarkson on hand live-painting a repurposed traffic meter that will later be used to collect coins that will be donated to local charities.
Power of Change Frederick is a project to showcase that ‘the whole is often greater than the sum of its parts.’ Power of Change upcycles old parking meters – asking local artists to paint and repurpose them to use as donation stations. The meters are placed at local Frederick County businesses. Contributions of quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies are collected from more than a dozen meters and donated to support the many nonprofit organizations in our Frederick community.
